    Description

Philly Reading Coaches - Site Coordinator Volunteer

Philly Reading Coaches (PRC) is a reading program funded by the Office of Children and Families and implemented by Out-of-School Time Providers. It is based on proven models that combine early reading support, book access, and community volunteers to boost the reading skills of our city’s children. The program pairs trained volunteers with young students from kindergarten through third grade and provides fun and child-guided reading experiences that help build reading skills and motivation. Each child in the program also receives 25 free books to take home.

The Site Coordinator Volunteer supports the PRC program. In this role, you will oversee a team of committed volunteers focused on improving the literacy levels and love of reading for students in grades K-3. You will manage the volunteers and student-volunteer sessions at assigned sites, ensuring the program is implemented with fidelity. SIs will report to the OST Site Director and PRC Coordinator.

This position is perfect for individuals looking for a professional learning experience or an opportunity to share acquired early childhood education and social work skills. You will work roughly 7.5 hours per week, including at least 6 hours of program oversight, up to 1 hour of data entry, and 30 minutes of weekly supervision or monthly Communities of Practice meetings. The second cycle of the program runs from January 6th to May 2025. Applications are open on a rolling basis.
