    Description

ARCHELON- the Sea Turtle Protection Society of Greece is a non- profit Association established in 1983. Volunteers from all over the world join us in Greece every summer for the conservation of sea turtles and their habitats. Our main activities are sea turtle nest monitoring / protection, rescue and rehabilitation of sick/ injured turtles and raising public awareness for sea turtles and marine/coastal habitats. About 500 volunteers participate in ARCHELON's sea turtle conservation projects every year and many of them will come back for a second or third season with us. See more below:

    A. VOLUNTEER PLACEMENTS

Volunteers walk across the nesting beaches daily, recording and protecting nests and hatchlings and talk to beach users about sea turtles and how they can help them survive. Volunteers live in organized Field Research stations with the necessary facilities close to the nesting beaches and sleep in their own tents. Their tasks usually take up to 5-6 hours daily. The language of the projects is English. Internship agreements with educational institutions are welcome.

    There are 7 project locations:

Zakynthos, Kyparissia, Gytheio, Koroni, Rethymno, Chania, Messara
