    TechStep Foundation is a nonprofit organization with a bold mission: to empower individuals—high school seniors, college students, career changers, refugees, and immigrants—through transformative IT training and mentorship.

    Founded to bridge the gap between potential and opportunity, TechStep provides hands-on programs in diverse IT fields. We equip participants with the skills they need to thrive in the tech industry, offering training in areas like IT fundamentals, compliance, data analysis, system administration, software development, and more. We don’t just teach technical skills; we build confidence, careers, and futures.

    Mentorship is at the heart of what we do. A mentor doesn’t just teach; they inspire, guide, and empower. This is why TechStep is looking for passionate professionals to join us in shaping the next generation of IT leaders.

    The Role: Mentor

    As a mentor at TechStep Foundation, you’ll play a pivotal role in guiding aspiring tech professionals. Whether your mentees are refugees starting over, students charting their careers, or professionals transitioning into IT, your mentorship will make a lasting impact.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Mentor participants in various IT areas, including IT compliance, data analytics, system administration, software development, and general technology skills.
    • Lead 45-minute virtual mentorship sessions once a week for 12 weeks.
    • Provide constructive feedback on assignments and projects.
    • Offer career guidance, including resume reviews, LinkedIn optimization, and interview preparation.
    • Inspire participants with real-world insights and strategies for navigating the tech industry.

    Qualifications

    • 3+ years of professional experience in IT, technology, or a related field.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Passion for mentorship and a commitment to helping others succeed.
    • Availability to mentor for 12 weeks (1 session per week).
