    STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program that specializes in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.

    Location: Remote

    Time commitment: 6 hours a week

    Description:

    We are seeking a creative and experienced Instructional Designer Volunteer to join our team. By volunteering, you will enhance your instructional design skills while making a significant impact on our educational programs. This position requires working with remote team members to design and develop effective and engaging instructional materials that support our organization's objectives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with subject matter experts and a diverse team to design and develop instructional materials that meet curriculum goals and enhance student learning experiences.

    • Create engaging and interactive e-learning modules, instructional videos, and other educational resources.

    • Apply instructional design principles and methodologies to create materials that are pedagogically sound and tailored to various learning styles.

    • Conduct needs assessments and analysis to identify learning objectives and content requirements.

    • Develop assessments and evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of instructional materials.

    • Review and update existing instructional materials to ensure they reflect current educational standards and best practices.

    • Utilize multimedia tools and software to enhance the visual and interactive elements of instructional content.

    • Collect and incorporate feedback from educators and students to continuously improve the quality and effectiveness of instructional materials.

    • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in instructional design and STEM education.

    Requirements:

    • Proven experience in instructional design, with a strong understanding of instructional design principles and methodologies.

    • Excellent skills in designing and developing engaging instructional materials.

    • Proficiency in using e-learning authoring tools, multimedia software, and learning management systems (LMS).

    • Strong research, writing, and communication skills, essential for thriving in a virtual team setting.

    • Self-motivated with the ability to manage your own schedule and responsibilities autonomously.

    • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry trends and best practices in instructional design and STEM education.
