Volunteer with us to deliver hope in the form of a refurbished computer to veterans and families in need on Long Island. Volunteer Requirements: a passion for people and computers! And living on Long Island, of course.
Volunteers are needed in Nassau and Suffolk counties to deliver and install donated/refurbished computers in the homes of client families.
The volunteer installer calls the client and sets up a mutually convenient time to bring the computer to the client's home. Once at the client's home, the volunteer brings the unit into house, connects the equipment, informs the client what software is on the computer and provides a brief explanation of PC operation basics. No detailed technical knowledge of computers or software is required. The Installer function is one of the most satisfying aspects of the Community Computer Connections Program -- this volunteer gets to see the reaction of families and children who never thought they could have their own computer!
The Community Computer Connections Program (CCCP) is sponsored by the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, a not-for-profit agency. Since 2006 the Community Computer Connections Program has provided more than 7000 refurbished computers to veterans, families and individuals in Nassau and Suffolk counties.
The Retired Senior Volunteer Program's mission is to provide diverse volunteer opportunities to seniors that want to remain active in meaningful community service. CCCP offers this opportunity to our volunteers while making a difference in the lives of others.
