    Description

Volunteer English Teacher for Rural Orphanage in Thailand

    About this Opportunity

Moo Baan Dek, a democratic school in Thailand, is seeking volunteer English teachers interested in volunteering abroad this summer/fall. The school follows the Summerhill approach, an alternative educational philosophy that emphasizes self-directed learning, emotional well-being, and community responsibility. It serves orphaned and impoverished children, providing them with a safe, nurturing environment where they can learn at their own pace in a non-coercive setting.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to:

✅ Gain hands-on teaching experience in a unique, student-led learning environment

✅ Support students in developing English communication skills

✅ Immerse themselves in Thai culture while working with underprivileged youth

    Who We’re Looking For:

We welcome applications from education students, recent graduates, and certified teachers who are enthusiastic about teaching and open to new cultural experiences. Prior teaching experience is a plus but not required.

    Program Details:

📍 Location: Moo Baan Dek School, Kanchanaburi(Province), Thailand

📅 Duration: Summer/Fall 2025 (exact dates flexible) minimum 1 month commitment required

💡 Covered Costs: Aside from airfare, all logistics—including accommodation, meals, and on-site transportation—will be fully funded by Friends of Children's Village Thailand, a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting Moo Baan Dek and its mission of providing holistic education to vulnerable children.

As a 501(c)(3) organization, part of our mission is to enrich the lives of U.S. students and volunteers by offering grants that support opportunities to volunteer or study at the school. These experiences not only provide valuable professional and personal growth, but also foster meaningful cultural exchange, broaden global perspectives, and promote cross-cultural understanding through service abroad.
