    Description

    The Peace Economy Project is seeking vigilant and dependable Safety and Security Team Volunteers to help ensure the safety and security of attendees during the Valentine’s Day Vigil Against Gun Violence. Volunteers in this role will work to create a secure and welcoming environment, monitor event spaces, and respond to any incidents or emergencies that may arise.

    Responsibilities:

    • Pre-Event Preparation:
    • Assist with setting up designated safety zones and emergency exits.
    • Perform site walkthroughs to identify and address any safety hazards.
    • Familiarize yourself with the venue layout and emergency procedures.
    • Event-Day Support:
    • Monitor entrances, exits, and high-traffic areas to ensure safety and smooth crowd flow.
    • Provide direction and assistance during emergencies or evacuations.
    • Maintain communication with event organizers and security personnel.
    • Observe and report any suspicious activity or behavior to event coordinators.
    • Support vulnerable attendees, including children, elderly individuals, and those with disabilities.
    • Post-Event Wrap-Up:
    • Assist with clearing the area and ensuring no attendees are left behind.
    • Help with securing equipment and returning items to storage.
    • Provide feedback on safety protocols and suggest improvements for future events.

    Requirements:

    • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond quickly to incidents.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    • Reliable, punctual, and able to stand or walk for extended periods.
    • Commitment to maintaining a peaceful and respectful environment.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior experience in security, emergency response, or event management (not required).
    • CPR/First Aid certification is a plus but not required.
    • Multilingual skills are a plus but not required.
