The World Disaster Center (WDC) is seeking compassionate, visionary leaders to serve as Regional Directors across our global offices. This volunteer role is a unique opportunity to dedicate your expertise and energy to building resilient communities and saving lives.

    Each WDC regional office serves as a hub for tackling unique challenges, promoting localized solutions, and strengthening global collaboration in disaster management.

    Your Role

    As a Regional Director, you will be the face and force of WDC’s operations in your assigned region. You will:

    • Lead Regional Strategy: Develop and implement disaster risk reduction (DRR) plans tailored to the specific challenges of your region.
    • Build Partnerships: Forge strong relationships with governments, NGOs, private sector stakeholders, and local communities.
    • Promote Innovation: Oversee the adoption of WDC’s cutting-edge tools, including the Michael app, to empower communities with disaster prediction and preparedness capabilities.
    • Strengthen Community Resilience: Facilitate workshops, training sessions, and grassroots programs to empower local populations to prevent and respond to disasters.
    • Represent WDC: Advocate for disaster-resilient policies in high-level forums, regional platforms, and international discussions.
    • Contribute to Global Knowledge: Conduct research, collect data, and publish regional reports to inform global disaster management strategies.
    • Coordinate Emergency Response: Act as a critical player in coordinating WDC’s disaster response activities during emergencies.

    Who You Are

    You are a passionate, humble, and driven leader who believes in the power of collaboration to make a difference. You have:

    • Education: A Master’s degree in Disaster Management, Public Administration, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
    • Experience: At least 10 years of experience in disaster management, humanitarian leadership, or community resilience programs.
    • Skills: Exceptional communication, networking, and advocacy abilities.
    • Knowledge: Deep understanding of the unique disaster challenges facing your region.
    • Mindset: A solutions-driven approach, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to equity and inclusion.

    6. Suva, Fiji (Pacific Islands)
    7. Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (North and Central Africa)
    8. Geneva, Switzerland (Western Europe)
