    About Us:

    Umoja Preventative (UP) is a nonprofit organization focused on empowering marginalized communities by fostering self-reliance, resilience, and hope. Our mission centers around preventing human trafficking through education, healthcare access, and economic development. We work with communities to dismantle cycles of exploitation and support local-driven growth.

    The Role:

    We are seeking passionate, dedicated individuals to join our board of directors. As a board member, you will play a key role in shaping UP’s strategic direction, fundraising, and overall impact. We are looking for professionals with experience in nonprofit governance, community development, public health, education, and social justice.

    Responsibilities:

    • Attend regular board meetings and participate in strategic planning.
    • Provide guidance and oversight on the organization’s operations.
    • Support fundraising efforts and help build relationships with donors, stakeholders, and partners.
    • Advocate for UP’s mission and contribute your expertise and skills to furthering the work of the organization.

    Qualifications:

    • Strong passion for social justice and human trafficking prevention.
    • Experience in nonprofit governance or a relevant field.
    • Ability to provide strategic direction and be a hands-on contributor.
    • Willingness to leverage professional network to help the organization grow.
