    Description

Advocate for Residents in Nursing & Assisted Living Homes

As an Ombudsman Volunteer in a nursing or assisted living home IN YOUR AREA, you will visit with, empower, and advocate for individuals who received long-term care (LTC) services. We are able to reach far more individuals with your help!

Ombudsman Volunteers are the eyes and ears in LTC facilities and provide a voice for LTC residents. We cover nine counties in Ohio, including Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Knox, Marion, Morrow, Richland, Seneca, and Wyandot Counties.

Volunteers will receive 16 hours of classroom training, related worksheets and videos, and experience in a local nursing or assisted living home with our regional staff and are certified to perform certain duties, which can include:

    • Visiting residents in nursing or assisted living homes
    • Observing conditions and care
    • Informing residents of their rights
    • Assisting staff ombudsman in addressing resident concerns

Once training is completed, you visit on your schedule (mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends). We look forward to talking with you!
