    Description

Easy Online Volunteering (Letter-writing to Detained Youth)

Looking for a flexible and meaningful way to give back? At DearJuvie, we offer an easy, fully remote volunteer opportunity that allows you to make a real impact on the lives of justice-involved youth—just by writing.

As a DearJuvie Volunteer, your main responsibility is to write letters of encouragement to teens currently in juvenile detention centers. Many of these young people face isolation, stigma, and a lack of support. A simple, heartfelt message from someone who believes in them can go a long way.

    Responsibilities:

    • Write unlimited letters of encouragement (each letter converts into x hours).
    • Follow our provided guidelines to ensure appropriate and uplifting messaging
    • Submit your completed letters in PDF format via the instructions on our website

    Qualifications:

    • No prior experience necessary
    • Must be age 13+
    • Ability to follow written instructions and submit letters electronically
    • Compassionate, respectful tone in writing
    • Reliable internet access and access to Google Docs or similar writing tool

    Time Commitment:

    • Flexible! Letters typically take 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete
    • Submit at your own pace—great for busy students or those seeking service hours

    What You'll Gain:

    • Verified community service hours
    • The chance to directly uplift youth who often feel forgotten
    • A deeper understanding of youth justice issues
    • A role in a growing youth-led movement for empathy, reform, and rehabilitation

DearJuvie makes it easy to get started. Everything you need—letter guidelines, writing tips, and the submission form—is on our website. You’ll receive confirmation of your hours and know that your words are reaching real teens who need them.

Join us in showing them that someone cares—and that their story isn’t over.
