    EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT MENTAL HEALTH

    Howard D. Trachtman, BS, CPS, CPRP, COAPS is the co-founder of the NAMI Greater Boston Peer Support and Advocacy Network (PSAN) [ https://namiboston.org/peer-san/ ]

    and the Metro Boston Recovery Learning Community [ www.mbrlc.org ]. He is looking for an executive assistant to help him promote peer support in

    Massachusetts.

    The executive assistant position provides an opportunity to work with peers (people with lived experience of mental health treatment)

    who manage nonprofit organizations that help people with their recovery from mental health and/or addictions. Some work can be done remotely and

    some work on site. The MBRLC and PSAN are idealistic, growing, cutting-edge peer-run organizations.

    As Mr. Trachtman was mentored by others long ago he chooses to give back to the community by mentoring new people to

    the peer world. This is an opportunity to truly learn 'on the job'.

    Some characteristics of the position are listed below. No candidate is expected to serve all roles:

    Willingness to share personal experience with mental health treatment

    Reply to information and referral inquires and emails as appropriate

    Help maintain Howard Trachtman's calendar

    Opportunity to attend select leadership team meetings

    Opportunity to help with outreach and development

    Opportunity to learn public policy

    Access to various NAMI and MBRLC trainings: support groups, public speaking and educational classes

    Willing to be trained as a Certified Peer Specialist

    Monitoring website and promotional fliers to see they are up to date

    Making sure there is an ample supply of literature for newcomers and other meetings

    Assisting in Internet and phone-based research

    Developing and using social media to increase the organization's online community

    Pitching stories and op ed pieces to newspaper editors; maintaining media database

    Assisting in researching and writing proposals for corporate and foundation grants

    Assisting in fundraising mailings to members

    Other duties as assigned by Howard Trachtman.
