    About Us:

    STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program specializing in an advanced, bar-

    none STEM-based educational curriculum emphasizing the interconnected subject areas of

    science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students

    from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and

    application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.

    Job Description:

    An event moderator serves as the master of ceremonies, ensuring a smooth and engaging

    experience for both speakers and the audience. They introduce the speakers, manage the timing

    to keep the event on the schedule and facilitate questions, ensuring productive interactions

    throughout the session or day.

    Location: Remote

    Time Commitment: Flexible Hours

    Key Responsibilities:

    Present each speaker with an engaging introduction to set the stage for their presentation.

    Please keep track of the schedule, ensuring each speaker stays within their allotted time and the

    event runs smoothly.

    Encourage audience participation, making the session interactive by inviting and moderating

    questions or discussions.

    Establish a welcoming and enthusiastic atmosphere to keep the audience interested and

    attentive.

    Quickly address any technical problems or logistical disruptions during the

    event.

    Seamlessly guide the flow between speakers, sessions, and any event segments to maintain

    energy and focus.

    Encourage interactions and networking among attendees, speakers, and panelists when

    appropriate.

    Provide brief recaps or key points from each session to help reinforce main ideas and ensure

    clarity for the audience.

    Required Qualifications

    Ability to speak, confidently, and engagingly in front of an audience to maintain their

    attention and interest.

    Prior experience in public speaking or hosting events is valuable to handle the flow of the

    event and keep the audience engaged.

    Skills in managing and enforcing time limits to ensure each session or segment stays on

    schedule.

    Capacity to listen carefully to speakers and audience members, ensuring relevant and

    thoughtful responses during discussions and Q&A.

    Quick-thinking abilities to handle unexpected situations, such as technical issues or time

    overruns, smoothly and professionally.

    Friendly and approachable demeanor to make speakers and audience members feel

    comfortable and engaged.

    Familiarity with the subject matter being discussed, allows the moderator to ask insightful

    questions and facilitate meaningful discussions.

    Ability to coordinate with event organizers, speakers, and other stakeholders to ensure a

    seamless experience.

    Knowledge of techniques to encourage audience interaction, whether through direct

    questioning, polls, or other engagement tools.

    Ability to stay calm and focused in a dynamic environment, especially in managing time

    constraints and unexpected challenges.
