If you said yes to any of the above, then we need you!
Foundation Communities is a local nonprofit dedicated to providing quality affordable housing and support services to families and individuals. We operate free English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for adults at 2 locations in Austin, Sierra Vista (78745) and Vintage Creek (78723). Currently, classes are on pause at Vintage Creek until later in the semester. We'd love to have you join us in South Austin at Sierra Vista!
We are seeking volunteers to support adult students in the classroom, providing 1-1 and small group support and demonstrating patience and care for students’ educational needs. You do not need to be bilingual to volunteer.
Programs run 9am-11am (morning class) and 6:30pm-8:30pm (evening class), Monday-Thursday. Volunteer shifts are available for both the morning and evening classes.
More about the ESL program: Learning basic English helps our students work toward their goals by being able to access better paying jobs and navigate daily live with greater ease. Our classes are taught entirely in English as we serve students from a variety of language backgrounds. Volunteers provide valuable support to our instructors, assisting them during class and providing one-on-one student support.
Volunteers must complete an online application and complete an orientation course. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.
Our orientation courses are open now. Let us know you're interested for information on how to get started!
