    Location: Remote/Houston Texas (U.S.-based preferred)

    Time Commitment: 5-10 hours per month

    Position Type: Non-Profit Board Member

    About Path to Freedom (PTF):

    Path to Freedom is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing critical mental health support to inmates before their release from prison, and assisting families in rebuilding relationships after an inmate’s reentry into society. Our mission is to ensure that inmates have the tools to reintegrate successfully and that families have the resources to rebuild strong, healthy relationships.

    We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will play a crucial role in the development, governance, and growth of the organization, ensuring we remain focused on our mission and maintain compliance with nonprofit regulations.

    Responsibilities:

      • Attend regular board meetings (monthly or quarterly) to provide strategic oversight and guidance.
      • Review financial statements and make recommendations for fiscal responsibility.
      • Assist with fundraising efforts and ensuring the organization maintains financial sustainability.
      • Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and regulatory requirements.
      • Provide input on the development of programs to ensure alignment with PTF's mission.
      • Help advocate for the organization and increase awareness of PTF’s work and impact.
      • Assist in strategic planning to shape the organization’s future and outreach efforts.
      • Participate in the creation of new initiatives and resources for recently released inmates and their families.

    Qualifications:

      • Strong passion for mental health, social justice, and prison reform.
      • Experience in nonprofit governance, fundraising, or strategy preferred.
      • Background in one or more of the following areas:
      • Mental health services
      • Criminal justice reform
      • Fundraising and grant writing
      • Legal services (especially related to prisoners’ rights)
      • Social work
      • Marketing and communications
      • Proven ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.
      • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
