    Description

Prepare + Prosper has been partnering with the Minnesota Financial Planning Association for more than ten years to provide quality referrals from the low and moderate income community to pro bono financial planning services. During P+P’s weekly tax clinics, on-site volunteers have conversations with customers about financial topics and make referrals to trusted partners, such as Certified Financial Planners.

In this program, a small group of P+P volunteer financial planners will receive these referrals and schedule a one-on-one meeting with P+P customers to provide individualized financial guidance. Volunteers will be trained on the economic challenges P+P populations tend to face, in order to communicate with equity and respect in mind. Volunteers will gain valuable experience working with diverse communities.

    Skills Required

    • Be a Certified Financial Planner™ professional in good standing with the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards
    • Ability to communicate with participants via phone and/or virtually
    • Enjoy working within a racially and socio-economically diverse population
    • Basic computer proficiency
    • English proficiency required; additional language proficiency desired

The time commitment is approx. 2 hours per week between the end of January and the end of May, which comes to approx. 35 hours total. Consultations are 30-60 minutes each.
