    Description

    Yes She Can Inc will be launching a Mentorship Program funded by New York State Council on Developmental Disabilities. We are currently seeking mentors to work with individuals on the autism spectrum in Westchester County.

    The heart of this program is communication, with a focus on the workplace. During the course of a year, you will cover topics that will help a mentee become better communicators and leaders. Topics include, but not be limited to: establishing rapport, listening skills, setting boundaries, self-advocacy, projecting confidence, articulating your strengths, discovering your values, flexibility, creativity, staying positive, accepting and providing feedback with grace.

    Yes She Can Inc. will be using a hybrid model of both online and in person meetings. This position requires a weekly time commitment of 1/2 hour for 24 weeks over the course of the year (12 meetings from January through June, and 12 meetings from July until the end of December. All mentoring teams should meet in-person at least once per semester.

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated timeliness and reliability
    • Ability to give and/or accept feedback kindly, and without giving up
    • Transportation to get to meetings, if in person, or have equipment to meet virtually.
    • Ability to ask questions on topics being discussed.
    • Completed resume
    • Linkedin profile.
    • Excellent work ethic and consistent desire to be helpful to others.
    • Be interested in education/being educated
    • Ability to communicate if you need help/have difficulty

    Responsibilities

    • Meet bi-weekly for ½ hour over the course of a year (virtually or in person).
    • Be punctual for meetings
    • Spend time needed preparing for the meeting on assigned topics so that meetings are productive
    • Stay focussed on a topic and stay away from topics that are triggering or overly personal.
    • Provide feedback to your mentorship partner and to Yes She Can, Inc staff
    • Have good personal hygiene and dress professionally
    • Conduct yourself professionally and respectfully at all times, avoiding lewd and crass words, actions, touch, and implications.
    • Report any behavior that makes you uncomfortable in any way to Yes She Can, Inc. staff.
