    About Us:

    The Peace Economy Project (PEP) is dedicated to promoting a peaceful, just, and sustainable future by advocating for the redirection of military spending to social programs that address poverty, inequality, and environmental justice. We focus on demilitarization, human rights, climate justice, and economic reform to foster stronger, more equitable communities.

    We are seeking passionate and driven individuals to join us as Peace Fellows to help advance our mission through research, advocacy, and community engagement.

    Position Overview:

    The Peace Fellow will support the organization’s research, advocacy, and outreach efforts, focusing on issues related to peacebuilding, militarism, human rights, environmental sustainability, and economic justice. Fellows will work closely with our team to develop policy recommendations, conduct research, engage with local communities, and support campaigns aimed at reducing militarization and promoting equity.

    This role is ideal for candidates passionate about peace advocacy and social justice, with strong research and communication skills.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Research & Analysis:
    • Conduct in-depth research on militarization, economic justice, and environmental policies.
    • Analyze the impacts of military spending and propose alternatives that prioritize social and environmental programs.
    • Provide data-driven insights and recommendations for advocacy campaigns.
    • Advocacy & Policy Development:
    • Assist in developing policy briefs, reports, and presentations.
    • Support legislative and grassroots advocacy efforts.
    • Collaborate with local and national coalitions to advance peace-related initiatives.
    • Community Engagement & Outreach:
    • Organize events, workshops, and webinars to educate the public about peace economy principles.
    • Engage with community leaders, activists, and policymakers to promote demilitarization and social equity.
    • Represent PEP at conferences and public forums.
    • Communications Support:
    • Draft articles, blog posts, and social media content to amplify PEP’s mission.
    • Support the launch of digital campaigns and storytelling efforts to raise awareness.
    • Contribute to newsletters and press releases.

    Qualifications:

    • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree (or currently pursuing) in Political Science, International Relations, Environmental Science, Social Justice, Public Policy, or a related field.
    • Skills & Experience:
    • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
    • Experience with policy advocacy, community organizing, or nonprofit work is a plus.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and research tools.
    • Familiarity with GIS mapping, data visualization, or social media platforms is a bonus.
    • Passion for Advocacy:
    • Commitment to peacebuilding, environmental justice, human rights, and anti-militarization efforts.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for community engagement.
