    Program Support Officer– Agriculture & Vocational Education

    The West Africa Volunteers Development Initiative (WAVDI), in partnership with the Youth Crime Watch of Liberia (YCWL), is seeking a Program Support Officer to lead efforts in agricultural development and the reopening of the Sanoyea Professional & Skills Development Academy (SPSDA) in Bong County, Liberia. The officer will play a key role in enhancing agricultural productivity, promoting youth empowerment, and revitalizing vocational education programs.

    The ideal candidate will support the implementation of sustainable agricultural initiatives, facilitate vocational training programs, and engage with stakeholders to ensure the success and sustainability of both efforts.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Agriculture Development & Rural Livelihoods
      • Support the implementation of sustainable agriculture programs that aim to improve food security, enhance agribusiness opportunities, and promote economic empowerment.
      • Assist in the training of youth and farmers in modern agricultural techniques, climate-smart farming, and agro-enterprise development.
      • Strengthen partnerships with local farmers, cooperatives, agricultural institutions, and government agencies to enhance agricultural productivity.
      • Facilitate the adoption of organic farming, agroforestry, and climate-resilience practices within rural communities.
      • Support market linkages and agribusiness models that promote youth and women’s participation in agricultural value chains.
    2. Reopening of

    Sanoyea Professional & Skills Development Academy (SPSDA)

      • Assist in the coordination, logistics, and curriculum development for the reopening of (SPSDA), ensuring alignment with national education standards.
      • Develop and implement agriculture-focused vocational training programs to equip youth with practical skills in farming, agribusiness, and food processing.
      • In partnership with Youth Crime Watch of Liberia, work with stakeholders, including local leaders and government agencies, to promote enrollment and retention in vocational education.
      • Support the recruitment and capacity-building of instructors and trainers for the academy.
      • Assist in securing funding, partnerships, and resources to sustain the vocational training programs.
    1. Program Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement
      • Collaborate with government ministries, NGOs, private sector actors, and development partners to advance WAVDI and YCWL’s shared goals in agriculture and vocational training.
      • Assist in organizing community engagement activities, awareness campaigns, and youth training sessions in rural development and crime prevention education.
      • Represent WAVDI and YCWL in stakeholder meetings, conferences, and policy dialogues related to agriculture, education, and youth development.
    2. Monitoring, Reporting & Resource Mobilization
      • Track program impact by collecting data, assessing progress, and documenting success stories to inform decision-making.
      • Prepare project reports, policy briefs, and funding proposals to enhance program sustainability.
      • Support grant writing and fundraising efforts to secure funding for agriculture development and vocational education programs.

    Instructions:

    Qualifications & Experience

      • At least a bachelor's Degree. A master's degree is an added advantage.
      • Knowledge in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, Education, or a related field is an added advantage.
      • 2-3 years of experience in program support, community development, agriculture, or vocational training.
      • Experience working with youth programs, farmers, or technical education institutions is an added advantage.
      • Knowledge of climate-smart agriculture, agribusiness models, and vocational training approaches is an added advantage.
      • Strong community mobilization, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy skills.
      • Excellent communication, project coordination, and report-writing abilities.
      • Experience in fundraising, proposal development, or resource mobilization is an advantage.

    Personal Attributes

      • Passionate about youth empowerment, agriculture, and technical education.
      • Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
      • Ability to work independently and in rural settings.
      • Willingness to travel and engage with community stakeholders and development partners.
