    Mentor to Help Transform Lives

Make a lasting impact on a young person's life—and discover how it transforms your own. Youth Mentoring Connection (YMC) has an opportunity for compassionate, committed individuals to join our mentoring program. By dedicating just 4 hours a month, you can help awaken a young person to their power, unique gifts, and purpose through YMC’s Gift-Centered Approach.

Our structured program uses Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey as a foundation for group activities, helping to foster emotional resilience and confidence in underserved adolescents. With the guidance and support of expert staff, mentors focus on nurturing relationships that empower mentees to self-actualize into adulthood.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Attend scheduled group activities and one-on-one sessions on alternating weeks, as part of a 6 month program. (begins June 2025)
    • Foster a positive and trusting relationship with your mentee by providing encouragement, support, and guidance.
    • Actively engage in a community of mentors, mentees, and program staff.
    • Serve as a role model who demonstrates empathy, respect, and commitment to the mentee's growth.
    • Participate in a mentor training session to understand and apply YMC’s mentoring framework.

    Qualifications:

    • Passionate about supporting youth from underserved communities.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Able to commit to the program schedule and maintain regular attendance.
    • Willingness to participate in training and adhere to program guidelines.

    Benefits of Volunteering:

    • Create meaningful, life-changing connections with youth and fellow mentors.
    • Develop leadership, communication, and empathy skills.
    • Be part of a vibrant, supportive community dedicated to uplifting at-risk youth.
    • Gain the satisfaction of contributing to positive societal change.

    Instructions:

We believe that when a caring adult mentor shows up for a young person in a consistent way, they change two lives. Our Gift Centered Mentoring model allows for the healing to begin, as Mentors walk in the path together with their Mentee. We only ask Mentors for four hours a month - you show up, be real, and YMC takes care of the rest.

Prospective Mentors complete our screening process, including an application and interview, then are invited to Training, and paired with a Mentee in our program launching during the same start date.
