    STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program specializing in advanced STEM-based educational curricula emphasizing the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school, with a mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, preparing students for globally competitive results.

    Position Overview:

    The Palliative Care Teaching Assistant supports faculty in teaching introductory palliative care courses, conducting virtual simulations, and assisting students in practical and theoretical aspects of end-of-life care and comfort management.

    Location: Remote

    Start Time: Jan 6, 2025

    Time Commitment: 2 to 6 hours per week

    Key Responsibilities:

      • Simulation Support: Assist in conducting virtual palliative care simulations and role-playing exercises that focus on patient comfort, communication, and ethical decision-making.
      • Teaching Support: Lead online discussion sessions, facilitate group activities, and assist with course materials related to pain management, patient communication, and holistic care.
      • Grading: Grade assignments, quizzes, and exams, and maintain student records.
      • Student Assistance: Provide clarification and support for students’ understanding of key concepts in palliative care, including symptom management, emotional support, and cultural sensitivity.
      • Resource Development: Help develop educational materials related to palliative care scenarios, including case studies and evidence-based practice guides.

    Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Palliative Care, Health Sciences, Nursing, or a related field; graduate students preferred.
      • Strong understanding of palliative care principles, including pain management, emotional support, and ethical considerations.
      • Previous teaching or tutoring experience is a plus.
      • Ability to communicate complex medical topics in an accessible and empathetic manner.
      • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
