If you are interested in social media, marketing, designing and creativity and want to combine these interests with an amazing experience volunteering for a Non-profit organisation in Peru, this is the perfect role for you! As a Marketing Volunteer, you will assist the Marketing Coordinator in a variety of tasks and projects related to recruitment and fundraising. You will also get responsibility over our social media accounts and present posts and stories several times per week on both ordered and own initiative.
This role does not require many hours of work per week, so it is possible to combine the role with another volunteering role, such as Fundraising Volunteer or Multi-Project Volunteer. This will allow you to top up your hours and gain experience in more than one field.
For students, all volunteer positions are available as internships, which is ideal for students looking to complete a year in industry/placement abroad. In this case, you will receive an extra level of mentorship and all appropriate communication with your academic institution to ensure compliance with internship placement requirements.

*If you want to improve your language skills, we can arrange Spanish classes for you in advance (by Skype) or during your stay.
Time commitment:
Placements can last from 2-12 months, giving you the flexibility to choose between spending a full year/academic year with us, just one semester, or even a summer internship. This makes our opportunities ideal for students looking to gain professional experience during a year in industry or language-based placement abroad.
Long-term volunteers are preferred, so you have a chance to really get to know the community and get comfortable in your role.
Generally, 20-25 hours per week, Mon-Fri
What you can expect from us:
A typical day in the role:
The days for the Marketing Volunteer can be quite varied, depending on what campaign/event/material is in focus that particular week. Social media content creation will be undertaken every day, either by yourself or in collaboration with other volunteers. Other tasks will involve developing different types of marketing resources, assisting with the production of newsletters and other publications, preparing & implementing events, updating marketing material for volunteer recruitment, etc.
If you choose to combine this role with another part-time role, office work can be scheduled around other projects that take place in the mornings or afternoons. For example, one day you might spend the morning working on the OCN Newsletter, then after lunch you might assist in teaching a class at the REC.
After work, there is plenty of time to catch one of Huanchaco’s world-famous sunsets from the tranquillity of the beach, or indeed from a surfboard. Then there are various options to fill your evening, socializing with local and other volunteers, sampling the famous Peruvian cuisine, attending talks and cultural events, music, dance, theatre, movies- the list is endless.
