    NAMI Glendale Operations Manager

    Location

    Glendale and surrounding cities. Service area includes Burbank, Hollywood, Los Feliz, Echo Park, Lincoln Heights, Highland Park and Crescenta Valley. This job is hybrid, both virtual and in-person.

    Hours

    Part-time/ 5-10 hours per week. Hours are flexible and work will sometimes be independent and other times will involve working alongside, in collaboration with others.

    Volunteer Position

    This is a volunteer position. Your contributions will go a long way to provide support for those who benefit from local mental health resources, support, political advocacy and stigma-free community.

    Purpose

    Assist the Operations Manager in coordinating NAMI Glendale volunteers, team captains and members to accomplish an uplifting NAMIWalks celebration and a successful NAMIWalks fundraiser. This event is essential to fund NAMI Glendale mental health awareness programming.

    Responsibilities

    • Activate community members to create NAMIWalks teams and to encourage people to join their teams. For example, coordinate volunteers to make phone calls to local businesses and to former NAMIWalks team participants.
    • Engage teams to get more donations for their NAMIWalks teams. For example, create a Zoom event or in-person event to share outreach ideas. For example, share a document with ideas for how to reach out to people.
    • Schedule at least one NAMIWalks Rally to excite NAMI Glendale community members to get involved with NAMIWalks - to create a team, to invite team members, to ask for donations to their teams and to spread the word.
    • Schedule meetings by email and phone. Create calendar invites with Zoom meetings.
    • Make copies, pick up and deliver flyers and outreach materials.
    • Attend in-person outreach events to promote participation in NAMIWalks for NAMI Glendale.
    • Engage with, recruit and on-board new volunteers to assist in NAMIWalks.
    • Attend weekly NAMIWalks meetings with the NAMI Greater LA County Walks Manager.

    Skills Required

    • Excellent listening and communication skills.
    • Communicate status on your task completion.
    • Ability to employ time management skills to create your own schedule, organize your calendar and prioritize your to-do list.
    • Some experience with communication and organizational tools, including MS Office, Google Workspace (Gmail, GoogleDocs, GoogleSheets, GoogleForms and GoogleCalendar).
    • Some experience coordinating group meetings, one-on-one meetings, and public events using videoconferencing software, Zoom and scheduling software, such as When2meet.

    Desirable Qualifications

    • Own and operate a car in good working condition.
    • Familiarity with NAMI programs and/or NAMI Glendale membership.
    • Community engagement within the service area of NAMI Glendale, including Glendale, Burbank, Eagle Rock, Hollywood, Echo Park, Lincoln Heights, El Sereno, Highland Park.
