    Empower Refugee Communities

As a volunteer, you will work in various capacities to support Palestinian refugees, including:

    • Engaging with children in under-resourced refugee camp schools
    • Collaborating with human rights organizations, community centers, international NGOs, and charities to advocate for refugee rights
    • Designing and leading educational workshops for children, youth, women, and the broader community
    • Fostering cultural exchange while teaching new skills

These activities address critical needs in the refugee camps while providing a platform for mutual understanding and personal growth.

    Volunteer with Refugees in Summer

This program is especially suited for university students and recent graduates seeking hands-on experience in human rights, political science, Middle Eastern studies, or related fields. The summer program offers a focused opportunity to combine volunteer work with cultural immersion, making it perfect for those on summer break.

    Understanding Palestinian Refugees

The plight of Palestinian refugees is a crucial aspect of the Middle Eastern conflict. Today, approximately 7.2 million Palestinians are displaced globally, with many living in overcrowded camps in the West Bank. These camps were originally established as temporary shelters but have since evolved into densely populated areas with limited public services.

Volunteers will gain a deeper understanding of the historical and ongoing challenges faced by refugees, including:

    • The displacement caused by the 1948 Arab-Israeli War
    • The continued impact of restricted resources and overcrowding in refugee camps
    • The role of international organizations like UNRWA in supporting refugee communities

    Cultural Immersion & Arabic Lessons

Living in Hebron, you will have the opportunity to reside with a Palestinian host family or in a shared dorm, ensuring full immersion in Palestinian daily life. Volunteers will also receive free Arabic language lessons (3 hours per week) to enhance their communication skills and deepen their connection with the local community.

In addition to your volunteer work, you will explore Palestinian cultural sites, historical landmarks, and areas of political significance, providing a comprehensive perspective on life in the West Bank.

    Support and Resources

The Excellence Center collaborates with a network of NGOs, schools, and community organizations to ensure that volunteers have the resources and connections needed to make a meaningful impact. From planning workshops to navigating cultural nuances, you’ll receive full support throughout your journey.
