    Description

    Orientation Center Representative

    Overview       The Willamette Heritage Center, a history museum, event venue rental space, research library, education resource, and retail outlet located in Salem, Oregon is looking for an Orientation Center Services Trainee. This position serves as the first point of contact for museum visitors and provides basic administrative staff support for the organization.

    Duties

    Serve as first point of contact to greet and assist site visitors

    • Open and close store such as turn on/off equipment, prepare required paperwork, and reconcile daily sales transactions
    • Coordinate museum tours including procedure overview, process payments, and answer questions
    • Transact cash, check, and card payments for Orientation Center services and other departments as needed
    • Upkeep of the admissions counter, merchandise shelves and brochure racks
    • Manage organization general communications such as answering multi-line phone system, regular monitoring of WHC general email correspondence, assist walk-in visitor inquiries, etc.
    • Sort & distribute daily incoming mail and package delivery
    • Promote WHC membership, activities, and events
    • Establish and uphold a professional, organized and friendly atmosphere
    • Other duties as needed

    Qualifications

    • Outstanding customer service
    • Strong work ethic; punctuality and excellent attendance a must
    • Perform verbal communication clearly and effectively
    • Willingness to uphold and demonstrate the WHC standard of excellence while on and off duty
    • Aptitude to use touch-screen POS register, multi-line phone system, and photocopier
    • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and internet functions
    • Ability to adapt to changing environments and sometimes work under pressure
    • A good sense of humor
