    Description

    The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in over 40 countries and 28 U.S. cities to restore safety, dignity and hope, the IRC leads the way from harm to home. The IRC in Tallahassee office was established in 2015 and has resettled over 1,500 refugees from 50 countries into Big Bend communities. 

    The IRC in Tallahassee is seeking volunteer drivers to transport clients from the airport, to cultural orientations, and to important appointments. Volunteers are needed on a varying schedule as needs change each day/week. 

    Responsibilities 

    • Pick up clients from the airport and drive them to their new homes 
    • Transport clients to and from IRC cultural orientations 
    • Transport clients to and from pertinent appointments 
    • Deliver supplies to client homes 
    • More as assigned 

    Requirements 

    • Must have reliable transportation with ability to transport passengers 
    • Must be patient and comfortable working with refugees and immigrants from diverse backgrounds, many of whom have limited English proficiency 
    • Must have in person availability on at least one day between Monday – Friday 
    • Background check including driver history required 
    • Must track and log hours volunteered monthly via our online volunteer dashboard.
