    Description

    Volunteer Teaching in Nepal

Join our impactful volunteer teaching program in Nepal, where you'll teach conversational English to disadvantaged children. Alongside improving their language skills, you'll engage in recreational and artistic activities, assist local teachers, and contribute to curriculum development. Your dedication will empower these students and provide a unique insight into Nepali daily life, enhancing both your and their future careers.

Engage in Nepal's Community Initiatives: Empower youth with English lessons, support women's groups with life skills, and contribute to hygiene and environmental awareness. Make a broader impact beyond teaching English!

    Safety and Support:

Your well-being is our top priority. At VCD Nepal, we value the safety of our volunteers above all else. Our local coordinator and VCD staff are dedicated to looking after you and ensuring that you stay safe, comfortable, and healthy throughout your time in Nepal. From the moment you arrive at the airport, our coordinator will be available to assist you with anything you may need. We provide a detailed orientation process as soon as you arrive in the country, ensuring that you are well-prepared for your volunteer experience.

    Skills and Requirements:

    • Fluency in English is a requirement, and no specific qualifications are needed. A passion for teaching underprivileged children, along with patience, open-mindedness, and respect, are essential qualities. Your hard work, passion, and compassion for those in need are crucial for fostering support and love within these communities.
    • A criminal background check certificate is required
    • Travel insurance for your safety

    Accommodation & Meals:

Volunteers stay with local families in either villages or cities, enjoying a private room with essential furniture. Meals, served three times daily, feature Dal Bhat Tarkari, a cornerstone of Nepali cuisine.

In city areas, host families typically provide Wi-Fi, western toilets, and hot showers. Village homestays may have limited access to these facilities, offering a unique experience that compensates for any limitations.

For water, participants can purchase bottled water locally or request filtered or boiled water from host families, ensuring hydration needs are met.

    Typical Day at the Placement:

Your typical day at the teaching English placement unfolds with joy and excitement. Each school has its unique needs and tasks, ensuring various exciting activities throughout the day. A sample daily schedule includes a morning wake-up with tea and light snacks, a hearty dal/bhat meal before heading to school, engaging in teaching activities, exploring and relaxing in the local surroundings, and concluding the day with dinner and family time, savoring Nepalese cuisine.
