    Description

Social Worker and Teaching in Schools Volunteer in Nepal

Teaching English volunteer program empowers volunteers to gain teaching experience in public and private schools, monasteries and women's education centres across Nepal. The country has a lack of financial and physical resources, as well as mountainous geography, which makes good quality education difficult to access for many students. Teaching English volunteers provides an important opportunity for these students to hone their English skills by practising with and learning from a fluent speaker. Teaching English volunteer can help improve their future job prospects and lead to eventual financial security.

With Nepal’s remote geography and lack of resources, the majority of Nepali children do not have access to a good standard of education. Teaching English volunteers makes an important difference in the lives of these students by helping them improve their English - a skill that can serve them well in the course of their futures and open many doors to employment and further education.

    Teaching English Volunteer Highlights:

    • Improving English Language Education Outcomes
    • Helping students develop life skills in a safe place
    • Developing your communication skills
    • Gaining teaching experience
    • Immersing yourself in Nepali culture
    • Exploring the fantastic mountainscapes of Nepal

As a teaching English volunteer in Nepal, you will assist local teachers or lead your own classes in public or private schools, monasteries and women's education centres depending on your program duration and the need for volunteers at the time. Students generally have a good grasp of English already and are eager to learn more to enhance their later job prospects. Teaching English volunteer tasks may include:

    • Teaching English
    • Tutoring students
    • Lesson planning
    • Assist in creating low-cost teaching materials for schools
    • Arranging health checkups for students
    • Organising other school activities, such as sports or sanitation programs.

What will do teaching English volunteer program volunteers?

Volunteers under the teaching English volunteer program are mostly placed in primary school or secondary school placements. You will work with local teachers, who will guide and assist you. You will get involved in work such as:

    • Teach children English and make speaking lessons engaging and fun
    • Design resources to contribute towards a literacy-rich environment
    • Assist teachers with subjects like music, science, sports, art, life skills, and hygiene
    • Attend workshops about the education system in Nepal
    • Include extra-curricular activities, such as playing games, dancing, going to a picnic or outing to the way of teaching
    • You are also welcome to participate in other activities of the school such as sports, music, and arts.

What are the aims and impact of the teaching English volunteer program?

The aim of this project is to provide students from disadvantaged communities with the opportunity to learn and improve their English.

Nepal is currently one of the most underprivileged countries in the world. Our main objective is to provide students with the opportunity to learn from English speakers and support local teachers in their classrooms. Improving literacy, numeracy, and classroom management are the key areas we are focusing on. To make this happen and achieve the goal, we need your help.
