Volunteer Position: Early Childhood Development Support at Candle Light Pre and Primary School

Location: Candle Light Pre and Primary School, Nakasajja, Uganda

Commitment: Flexible (minimum of 2 weeks, with options for longer stays)

About Candle Light Pre and Primary School:

Candle Light Pre and Primary is part of the Candle Light Foundation's mission to provide quality education and nurture holistic development in young learners. Located in Nakasajja, Mukono , the school serves children aged 3 to 6 years for the nursery section , focusing on building strong educational foundations in a caring and supportive environment.

Position Overview:

We are seeking compassionate and enthusiastic volunteers passionate about Early Childhood Development (ECD) to join our team. Volunteers will support teachers and caregivers in creating a nurturing, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment. This role is ideal for individuals interested in working with young children and contributing to their growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist teachers in planning and delivering creative and age-appropriate lessons.
• Support classroom activities, including storytelling, singing, arts and crafts, and group play.
• Help foster a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for children.
• Work with individual students or small groups to provide additional attention where needed.
• Contribute to creating educational materials and resources.
• Assist in organizing and facilitating outdoor and recreational activities.
• Collaborate with the school staff to promote good hygiene and positive behaviors among children.

Qualifications:

• A genuine love for working with young children.
• Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
• Background in Early Childhood Education or related fields is a plus but not mandatory.
• Open-mindedness and adaptability to work in a multicultural environment.
• Prior volunteering or teaching experience is beneficial but not required.
