Lead Intake Specialist – Missing Persons Investigations/OSINT/Interviewer

Make a Real Impact in Missing Persons Investigations

Commitment: Volunteer, Weekly Engagement & Ad Hoc

    Who We Are:

Night Owl Reconnaissance (NOR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization specializing in OSINT-driven missing persons investigations. Our mission is to detect and prevent disappearances, support active investigations, and provide resources to those who have been recovered. We work alongside law enforcement, advocacy groups, and families to bring clarity to complex cases.

We are seeking a dedicated volunteer Lead Intake Specialist to manage incoming case requests, engage directly with families, and assess investigative feasibility. This is a crucial role in ensuring that missing persons cases receive the appropriate attention and support.

    About the Role:

As the Lead Intake Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for individuals seeking NOR’s assistance. You will review new missing persons case requests, conduct intake interviews, and determine whether NOR can provide investigative support. Your ability to assess information, communicate with families, and document cases will directly contribute to our mission.

This role is ideal for someone with strong investigative instincts, excellent communication skills, and a passion for supporting missing persons cases.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Review incoming missing persons assistance requests and assess NOR’s ability to investigate.
    • Engage directly with families and loved ones as their first point of contact, offering guidance and support.
    • Conduct intake interviews to gather essential case details, background information, and known leads.
    • Evaluate case feasibility, ensuring NOR’s resources are used effectively.
    • Summarize case findings and present recommendations to the investigations team.
    • Refine and improve the intake process, making it more efficient and accessible.
    • Maintain case records and provide structured documentation for tracking and reporting.
    • Provide weekly email updates on intake activities, case trends, and investigative decisions.

    Who Should Apply?

    • You have strong communication and active listening skills, with the ability to engage with families in difficult situations.
    • You are highly organized and detail-oriented when assessing case information.
    • You have experience in investigative research, case assessment, OSINT, victim advocacy, social work, or related fields (preferred, but not required).
    • You are comfortable working independently while collaborating with a remote volunteer team.
    • You are passionate about missing persons investigations and want to make a tangible impact.

    Why Volunteer with NOR?

    • Directly impact missing persons cases by guiding families through the intake process.
    • Gain hands-on experience in investigative case assessment and victim support.
    • Join a passionate team of OSINT professionals and investigators dedicated to making a difference.
    • Work remotely with flexible engagement, averaging a few hours per week.
    • Help shape NOR’s intake process and contribute to long-term improvements in missing persons investigations.
