Are you interested in being hands-on with a nonprofit dedicated to preserving families and preventing child abuse? Then Pinwheel Place is the right place to give your talents and treasure. The mission of Pinwheel Place is to stop childhood trauma before it starts by providing for the physical and emotional needs of Monmouth County children and their families. By also offering diapers, clothes, and baby supplies, Pinwheel Place fosters a healthy local community and strengthens families to endure their difficult trials.

Pinwheel Place is a 501c(3) nonprofit that provides free emergency childcare to children from 6 weeks old to 6 years old. Located in Eatontown, NJ, Pinwheel Place is the only licensed crisis nursery in the state and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are seeking passionate volunteers to join our working Board of Directors. These active leaders will directly oversee the goals and strategies of Pinwheel Place and provide crucial support for the families we serve.

The Pinwheel Place Board of Directors is the governing body, guiding and supporting the vision, mission, and internal operations of the organization. Ultimately, board members serve as ambassadors for Pinwheel Place’s mission, inside and outside of organizational commitments.

Leadership, Governance and Oversight

1. Build expertise on Pinwheel Place’s mission, services, policies, and events.
2. Review meeting agendas and issue updates as a working Board member, attend board meetings and participate in at least one committee.
3. Make a financial contribution to Pinwheel Place to ensure the financial integrity of the organization.
4. Serve as ambassadors for Pinwheel Place and help find new nominees to the Board of Directors. Articulate the organization’s mission, accomplishments, and goals to the public and garner support from the community.
5. Maintain strict adherence to Pinwheel Place’s conflict of interest and confidentiality policies.
6. Assist in the creation of a strategic plan and administer annual reviews.

Qualifications for Service

• Past or current engagement (3-month trial) with Pinwheel Place
• Interest in and willingness to support Pinwheel Place’s goals and objectives
• A collaborative approach to leadership
• Planning, analytical and decision-making ability
• Sensitivity and awareness of the circumstances and challenges of our families
• Ability to organize and monitor a wide range of projects
• Commitment to open and honest communication

The key leadership positions we seek to fill are treasurer, marketing and fundraising, but we are most interested in candidates who have a passion for our mission.
