    Battle Buddy Hander

    Are you looking to give back to our Heroes who have given some much for our country and communities?

    We are looking for an enthusiastic dog trainer to train a service dog for a Hero in need. To be successful as a dog trainer, you should be patient and passionate about training dogs. You will have Battalion Leader (Lead dog trainer), who you will report to for training questions and problem-solving skills. This is a volunteer position.

    Dog Trainer Responsibilities:

    • Go to a training class to learn new skills for the service dog in training (SDiT).
    • Consulting with Battalion Leaders to discuss behavioral concerns and training needs.
    • Identifying additional behavioral concerns and communicating them to Battalion Leader, CEO.
    • Follow suitable training plans for dogs and document their progress on a weekly basis.
    • Teaching dogs to obey basic commands and service dog cues using various training techniques that are best suited to each dog’s personality and attributes.
    • Implementing appropriate training programs to address and resolve problem areas.
    • Ensuring that the training areas are clean and tidy.
    • Maintain behaviors and skills learned by their dogs during training sessions.

    Dog Trainer Requirements:

    • Keep dog in home for up to two years.
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Sound knowledge of dog training techniques as well as animal behavior and body language a plus but not required
    • Proven experience working as a dog trainer a plus but not required.
    • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
    • Strong dog handling skills.
    • Effective communication skills.
    • A love for dogs.
    • Patient and enthusiastic.
