    About Lakeview Orchestra:

    Founded in 2013, Lakeview Orchestra is recognized as “Chicago’s premier non-professional orchestra” (Chicago Classical Review). Led by Artistic Director Gregory Hughes, the orchestra is home to professionally-trained musicians dedicated to presenting diverse and acclaimed performances to advance its mission: to engage, entertain, and educate audiences through symphony music. Hosting performances at the historic Athenaeum Center, the orchestra's commitment to artistic excellence has earned multiple awards, including the prestigious Orchestra of the Year in 2016 from the Illinois Council of Orchestras.     Position Overview:

    Lakeview Orchestra is seeking individuals passionate about classical music and community engagement to join its Board of Directors. Board members are crucial to the success of Lakeview Orchestra, volunteering their time, talent, and resources to support the operation of the orchestra, drive strategy, and execute its mission.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Attend quarterly in-person board meetings
    • Participate actively in one or more board committees
    • Promote Lakeview Orchestra's mission and concerts
    • Engage in fundraising efforts
    • Collaborate with other board members, orchestra members, local stakeholders, and personal networks to enhance Lakeview Orchestra's presence as a community institution

    Qualifications:

    • Passion for classical music and Lakeview Orchestra's mission
    • Willingness to commit time and effort to board responsibilities, including actively participating in committee work
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Enthusiasm for promoting and fundraising for Lakeview Orchestra
    • Previous board or volunteer experience is a plus
