    Description

Help Teens in North Central Austin Thrive – Be a Fall Volunteer!
    • Do you want to make a difference in a teen’s life?
    • Do you want to grow your skills working with youth in an educational and service-oriented environment?
    • Do you have experience and skills to share from a personal or professional background working with youth?
    • Do you like to have fun? Connect with youth? Learn about yourself?

If you said yes to any of the above, then we need you!

Foundation Communities is a local nonprofit dedicated to providing quality affordable housing and support services to families and individuals. We operate free after school programs at 12 Learning Centers all over Austin, including at our Vintage Creek community in North Central Austin (78723). While most of our centers focus specifically on elementary-aged students, Vintage Creek has a Teen Program for middle and high school students.

We are seeking volunteers to help with project-based learning, doing activities such as coding, robotics, video filming and editing, soccer and basketball skill building, chess, STEAM, and 3D modeling/printing (prior knowledge of these subjects not needed to volunteer), as well supporting our teen students with enrichment activities and social/emotional skills to thrive this spring and beyond!

Programs run Monday – Thursday, 5:00-6:00pm. We can offer some flexibility for arrival and departure within these times. To start, volunteers commit to at least one regular shift per week for the term.

Volunteers must complete an online application, pass a background check (no cost to the volunteer), and complete an orientation course. Volunteers must be at least 20 years old to volunteer with our teen students.

Our orientation courses are open now for the Teen program. Let us know you're interested for information on how to get started!
