    Description

    Volunteer for Head Start

St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore operates six fully credentialed Head Start sites and four licensed Early Head Start sites in Baltimore City. Our Head Start and Early Head Start programs provide early childhood education services to prepare infants, toddlers, and preschool children for school, while also helping parents achieve financial, housing and health stability goals that benefit their families and the entire community.

Volunteering at Head Start provides volunteers with an opportunity to help with reading, art, music, and play activities in the classroom, front desk reception, field trips (chaperone), mealtime assistance, and Policy Council representation.

Please note that while volunteers are always welcomed at SVDP Head Start, it is our responsibility to ensure the safety of all children and staff.  In maintaining this safety, all regular volunteers (anyone volunteering 6 or more hours a week) must be 18 years or older and complete the following:

    Qualifications

    • Volunteer Application (see link under "Directions")
    • Successfully complete a background check
    • Must complete a TB testing background check
    • Must sign a confidentiality statement
    • Must Complete Orientation & Training
