Responsibilities:
- General administration and strategic planning of SFVS
- Gather and chair SFVS Board Meetings
- Oversee SFVS’s organizational and special events fundraising efforts
- Oversee the planning and execution of SFVS’s participation in Earth Day and San Francisco Pride
- Oversee the planning and execution of SFVS’s annual World Vegan Fest
- Oversee the planning and execution of SFVS’s monthly gatherings (community outreach, group dinners, cooking demos, lectures, film screenings, etc.)
- Manage SFVS’s social media and other communications
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of advocacy in the vegan movement
- Event organizing experience
- Volunteer organizing experience
- Fundraising experience
- Communications experience

San Francisco Vegan Society (SFVS) is a volunteer-run 501(c)3 registered nonprofit organization that has been promoting plant-based eating and a healthy, ethical, and sustainable way of life since 1968. We are on the lookout for new President to make our team as strong and effective as possible. We are looking for candidates who have been active in the vegan movement for 7+ years with experience in event organizing , volunteer organizing, fundraising , and communications.
Your two-year commitment will include chairing Board Meetings six (6) times a year and bi-monthly Committee Meetings; organizing Vegan Earth Day, our contingent in the SF Pride Parade, and our annual World Vegan Fest; as well as monthly get togethers and outreach events.
If you are interested in serving as the President or joining the Board of Directors at SFVS, please tell us about your experience and complete the candidate questionnaire. Please note: there is no financial compensation for serving on the Board, but you will receive a free annual membership for the duration of your service.
