    Position Overview

    The Public Relations & Outreach Fellow will assist in media relations, press outreach, and community engagement to promote PEP’s campaigns and advocacy work. The fellow will develop press releases, media pitches, event promotions, and partnership outreach strategies to increase PEP’s visibility and impact.

    This fellowship is ideal for students or recent graduates with experience or interest in public relations, communications, journalism, advocacy, and social justice organizing.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Draft and distribute press releases to national and local media outlets.

    Develop media pitches and build relationships with journalists, editors, and news outlets.

    Monitor media coverage of militarization, defense spending, and peace advocacy issues.

    Assist in planning and promoting events, webinars, and advocacy campaigns.

    Manage outreach to potential partners, coalitions, and community organizations.

    Create outreach materials such as email newsletters, fact sheets, and advocacy toolkits.

    Engage with supporters and organizations to build partnerships and expand PEP’s network.

    Assist in managing and updating media contact lists and press databases.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Background in public relations, communications, journalism, political science, or a related field.

    ✔ Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives.

    ✔ Experience with press outreach, media engagement, or grassroots organizing is a plus.

    ✔ Passion for peace advocacy, social justice, and anti-militarization efforts.

    ✔ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced advocacy environment.

    ✔ Experience with email marketing tools (e.g., MailChimp), press databases, or social media outreach is a plus.
