    Description

Creating a New Resource Center - PRESENTATION

What if North Lawndale in Chicago had a center that helped people locate the resources they need? What if that same center offered work training programs for adults and youth? What if the businesses on site were operated by adults with autism, formerly incarcerated folks, and people who used to be homeless? We are planning a building called Tubman Kahlo Center.

How about this center offering 2nd & 3rd floors of storefronts to be rented by local entrepreneurs to show and sell from? How about this center's first floor housing a large art gallery/vegan cafe/performance stage? Also on the 1st floor there would be a florist shop and re-purposed furniture store? Maybe even a conference room and 2 art studios on upper floors and a rooftop garden with yoga and meditation gardens too? With an emphasis on social justice and diverse peoples learning & sharing together, this space would offer opportunities for a variety of ethnicities, creeds, and colors.

Would you like to find out more? Maybe you would like to support such a space, help make it happen, or just be a part of spreading the word?

There will be a presentation on January 2

from 3-4:30 p.m. with refreshments at Urban Art Retreat, 1957 S. Spaulding Ave.

    at 21st. Please RSVP
