General Volunteer

Education Through Music (ETM), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, seeks an volunteer for spring 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has an interest in both music education and nonprofit management to support and learn about the various departments and functions that support a thriving, mission-driven arts organization.

During this volunteer assignment, you will assist on various cross-functional projects to support the organization’s preparation for the upcoming school year. The work will be focused more heavily on Marketing however projects within Partnerships, Finance, Operations and Development will be available to provide a well-rounded generalist experience.

Sample projects include:

• Migrating marketing content onto ETM’s new website
• Collecting and organizing student and teacher media highlighting our program’s impact
• Updating award letters and pledges within ETM’s Salesforce database
• Prospect research
• Updating mailing addresses for donors and district information for government officials

What you will learn:

• Project management experience; including how to meet daily, weekly and long-term deadlines
• Experience using such as Salesforce and Google Suite
• Experience working and communicating directly with a mid-size non-profit team
• Exposure to ETM’s music education programming at K-12 schools across New York City

Requirements:

• Experience with social media platforms
• Self-motivated, strong organizational and communication skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
• An interest in education, music, and the arts

The Volunteer will report to and be supervised by the Chief of Staff. Start Date: February 18th. Hours: 8 – 12 hours/week, hybrid capacity (in-office and remote). This is an unpaid volunteer assignment.
