This is an incredible opportunity to use your expertise to make a meaningful impact while gaining experience in nonprofit management.

Join Fruitslice as a Financial Systems & Strategy Volunteer

Fruitslice is a Queer-run quarterly publication featuring work exclusively by and for our community. Through radical storytelling and living archives, we platform marginalized Queer voices—especially BIPOC, disabled, and Trans creators—documenting our present while building liberatory futures.

Key Responsibilities: Financial Systems & Strategy

    • Design and implement financial systems and processes tailored for a nonprofit structure.
    • Set up and maintain efficient bookkeeping systems to ensure financial transparency.
    • Develop user-friendly budgeting frameworks and financial tracking tools.
    • Create clear, transparent financial reporting procedures for internal and external use.
    • Establish internal controls to ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations.

    Key Responsibilities: Funding Strategy Lead

    • Develop sustainable funding strategies to support Fruitslice’s growth.
    • Design grant management systems and streamline funding workflows.
    • Build equitable compensation models to align with Fruitslice’s community-centered values.
    • Research and identify funding opportunities to diversify revenue streams.
    • Create financial forecasting models to ensure long-term stability.

    Ideal Skills:

For both roles, we’re looking for individuals with:

    • Experience in nonprofit financial management, accounting, or funding strategies.
    • Familiarity with bookkeeping software, grant management tools, and financial systems.
    • Knowledge of nonprofit compliance and revenue models.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills.
    • Strategic planning capabilities and the ability to work independently.

    Ideal Candidates Will Have:

    • Professional experience in finance, operations, or accounting.
    • An understanding of nonprofit sector dynamics.
    • A commitment to uplifting Queer communities and values.
    • An interest in arts, culture, and storytelling as vehicles for preservation and change.
    • Alignment with radical, anti-capitalist, equity-driven, and community-centered approaches.

    Time Commitment

    • 5–10 hours per month, with flexible scheduling.
    • Initial commitment of 6 months.
    • Virtual position with occasional video meetings.

    Path to Compensation

These volunteer roles are foundational to Fruitslice’s future. We are actively working toward securing funding, and volunteers in these roles will have priority consideration for future paid positions. Joining now means playing a key role in shaping a framework for equitable compensation and long-term sustainability.

    Why Join Fruitslice?

    • Be part of a passionate, Queer-centered team dedicated to arts and cultural preservation.
    • Use your expertise to directly support underrepresented voices and marginalized communities.
    • Help build a nonprofit from the ground up while gaining meaningful experience in nonprofit management and strategy.
