    Description

The Real Housewives of Politics: Watch Party Host

The Real Housewives of Politics (RHOPOL) is a project of the Working Families Party (WFP) and was launched as an Instagram fan page in July of 2022. Since then, we have expanded the RHOPOL project to include regular events – including voter registration watch parties – as a way of mobilizing Housewives fans towards voter engagement, helping fans find community with fellow progressive fans, and spreading the word about WFP!

The vast majority of the people who are attending our events have never been politically engaged; many have not heard of the Working Families Party or any social/political organizations. Despite this, the response to RHOPOL has been enthusiastic and dynamic!

We are looking for volunteers who are interested in hosting politics-themed Real Housewives Watch Parties! Volunteers will work with Amelia & Sara (WFP Fandom Organizers) to host parties. This is a great opportunity for people interested in getting out the vote in a joyful way!

    Key Responsibilities

    • Plan and execute watch parties in your city (with plenty of support from the WFP Fandom Organizing Team). This may include:
      • Working with venues to negotiate event details & promotion,
      • Promoting the event on social media and within your various communities,
      • Typical host duties (working the room, greeting guests, making announcements, etc.),
      • Making sure the political theme and materials are ALWAYS present at events,
      • Additional tasks typically associated with event planning.
    • Maintain strong communication & data flow with the WFP Fandom Organizing Team, including:
      • Communicating event details and updates (as necessary) to the team,
      • Providing the social team with necessary info and support to promote the event(s),
      • Promptly sending the WFP Fandom Organizing Team RSVP and attendee information,
      • Generally responding to emails, texts, messages in a timely manner.
    • Additional tasks related to hosting watch parties as they arise!

We’re looking for people who have:

    • Interest in social change, progressive politics, activism, fandom, popular culture, and particularly an interest and passion for Real Housewives franchises!
    • Alignment with the WFP’s commitment to creating a novel approach to social change.
    • Strong project and/or event management skills, and an ability to work independently.
    • Excellent organizational skills, strong verbal and written communication, and ability to handle feedback with grace and humility.
    • Experience with Google Apps (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive, Etc.).
