Volunteers will be placed in primary or junior schools in communities all around Ghana. Participants will teach English and any other necessary subjects to local children. The most common courses are English, mathematics, general knowledge, ICT and science. Volunteers will be able to share their skills and background with the children and be involved in a culture exchange. This is a great opportunity for local students to learn English from foreigners. You must be willing to work with children and to have an above average English speaking ability.
There are some classrooms that lack roofs or other resources like pencils and chalkboard. You must be willing to improvise. Local schools and OGVO will help provide lesson plans and teaching curriculum to volunteers. We are looking for volunteers who are creative, driven and passionate about teaching children. You may bring teaching aids such as books, flash cards and art supplies.
