    The JSO was founded in 1929 by a small group of local musicians and is now a level 6C orchestra, performing six subscription concerts and additional education and outreach concerts at the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center on the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown campus and at other venues in the Johnstown area under the direction of Maestro James Blachly.
