The Beginning

The Beginning is a new collaborative hub of smaller, grassroots, legacy, and upstream focused community organizations focused on youth and family support. It consists of seven partner organizations with more partners anticipated in the future as we increase space and capacity.

The aim of The Beginning is shared resources and accountability, and to celebrate wins, transforming service delivery through trust and a joint vision to bring authentic collaboration to scale in the service of the greater community.

Partner agencies provide mentorship, systems navigation, youth development, restorative circles, a K -12 community-based virtual education hub, psychosocial education and skill development, vocational support, financial literacy, and urban agriculture.

The Beginning is located in a 70,000 sq ft historical structure on Milwaukee’s south side. We aim to become a Mecca for youth justice, reentry, and community.

The goal is nothing less than a systems change that will impact generations and challenge the way community organizations work together.ty stability. We use a house, block, neighborhood analogy: The Beginning is the house. The building is the block, with several additional partners that share the space. The neighborhood is just that: the neighborhood surrounding our building, which has the most overdoses in our state.
