  • About Us

--HOUSING RIGHTS COMMITTEE---- is a tenants rights organization that offers free counseling and organizing help for San Francisco tenants in all types of housing, including rent-control, SROs, public housing and Section 8. We've been fighting for the rights of tenants since 1979. Housing Rights Committee counselors provide help to over 5,000 tenants a year, advising them on their rights as renters. Housing Rights Committee helps tenants facing evictions or other threats to their housing organize with their neighbors to pressure the owners of their buildings to drop their evictions so they can stay in their homes.
