    About Us

Founded by Serena and Tim Muindi, the Muindi Foundation is deeply rooted in a belief that education is the most powerful tool to break the cycle of poverty. We serve children and youth from low-income, at-risk, and underrepresented communities, primarily in San Jose, California. Many of the students we support have fallen behind academically, lack access to basic resources, or face socio-emotional barriers that hinder their educational development.

Through a comprehensive suite of free programs—including one-on-one tutoring, seasonal academic camps, homework clubs, college readiness support, and social-emotional learning—we help students not only catch up but thrive.

Our services extend to supporting families with basic needs such as hygiene supplies, food, and guidance navigating financial aid systems. Art, music, and meditation are embedded into our model to encourage creativity, emotional resilience, and long-term wellness.

We walk alongside each child from the moment they enter our program—typically in elementary school—through high school graduation and into their college and professional journeys.

    Our Core Values:

    • Equity: Every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of background.
    • Compassion: We lead with empathy and meet families where they are.
    • Perseverance: We champion long-term commitment and academic resilience.
    • Community: We build strong partnerships and foster belonging.
    • Empowerment: We equip students and families with the tools to advocate for themselves and succeed.
