Working Credit

Working Credit is a national nonprofit with roots in Chicago. Since 2014 we have provided thousands of people with access to credit-building education and responsive and personalized counseling and coaching with the goal of reducing the racial wealth gap. We do this by helping participants acquire the upfront knowledge, affordable products, and ongoing support they need to achieve and sustain prime credit scores. A good credit profile fosters resilience by saving people money on interest rates, insurance, and security deposits, and helps them obtain rental housing and jobs, and weather emergencies without relying on predatory lenders. It is also a prerequisite to starting a small business and purchasing a home. Our goal is not just to convey information, but to transform that information into sustained, actionable knowledge.
