Council of American Ambassadors

  • About Us

The Council of American Ambassadors is the nonpartisan association of former and incumbent non-career U.S. ambassadors who have served presidents of both political parties. The Council aims to enhance the conduct of diplomacy and reinforce a collegial and supportive relationship with the Department of State and the Foreign Service. It sponsors Fellowships to develop young leaders for careers in public diplomacy and international affairs, provides orientation for newly appointed American ambassadors, and educates the public about foreign policy issues affecting the national interest. The Council presents conferences, convenes roundtable discussions, conducts overseas fact-finding missions, publishes a bi-annual journal, The Ambassadors REVIEW, administers Ambassadors Perspectives, an online forum for commentary, and hosts the podcast series, CAA Live!
