  • About Us

LA Compost was founded in 2013 as a 501c3 non-profit, providing composting services, education and community building to the people of Los Angeles. LA Compost is governed by a Board of Directors. LA Compost received its formal federal tax exemption status as a 501(c)3 organization in 2013.  This status provides the fiscal momentum necessary to move forward with the mission of the organization.

    MISSION:

Our mission is to cultivate places for people to engage with each other through compost access and soil education. We do this to bridge the disconnection between soil and people.

    VISION:

Connecting the people of LA to the soil and each other. We support a healthy transition where food is never wasted but returned to the soil for the next cycle of life.

     VALUES:

Community, education, and the full story of food.
