At the Academy for Local Leadership, we envision an equitable and just education system that works for young people.
We envision a democratically elected, effective, and functional school board that partners with local community leaders and district administration to manage Chicago’s public school system in a way that meaningfully attends to the educational aspirations, goals, and needs of Chicago’s students, families, and communities - especially those furthest from opportunity.
Our community of leaders is deeply dedicated to ALL’s mission. They bring strong backgrounds across several sectors to develop and lead our programs and create spaces for growth and understanding of the evolving education landscape.

Our commitment to preparing educators, principals, and superintendents to lead in the Chicagoland area is at the core of our mission. We introduced the ALL Chicago program in response to the recent shift in CPS governance. This initiative is designed to bolster the education of learners exploring their interest in school board membership, thus furthering our commitment to prepare leaders at all levels in educational systems.
Being a school board member is a difficult job. The minute you sit in that seat, you're making big decisions that impact hundreds of thousands of young people. School board members need to be ready to be effective on day one. As our institution has prepared teachers, principals, and district administrators, we now prepare those who may aspire to be school board members and education advocates.
